“The most courageous act is still to think for yourself. Aloud.” – Coco Chanel
Hello, World!
I'm Justice, a Principal Product/UX Designer by day and a dedicated mentor to over 165+ aspiring designers and tech professionals by night and weekends.
Currently, I serve as a Senior UX Designer at Bank of America (BOA), specializing in the FinTech space within the Audit Team. With a strong background in web and mobile design, I hold a bachelor's degree in Software Engineering from Kennesaw State University (KSU) and Southern Polytechnic State University (SPSU). I'm also a proud UX Design alumnus from General Assembly and am always pursuing new certifications to stay at the forefront of my field.
My journey began with a passion for design at the age of 14 when I attended a summer camp at SCAD in Atlanta. By 16, I was creating impactful designs, winning second place in the Blacks in Government STEM competition for web design and first place in their Training in Communication oratorical contest. Those early experiences solidified my dream of a career in design.
Before becoming the professional I am today, I founded Devon Design Agency, which started as a college side project and evolved into a thriving business offering resume and web development services. This entrepreneurial experience shaped my approach to design and mentoring, blending creativity with strategic insight.
Whether mentoring or designing, I’m passionate about using my expertise to empower others and drive innovation in tech and design.
How did I get Into Tech?
From a young age, I’ve always had a passion for speaking and being heard. Every year, I eagerly took on the role of delivering the Easter speech, a tradition that sparked my love for public speaking.
Over the years, this passion grew into a deeper commitment to leadership, as I recognized the power of using my voice to inspire and influence others.
As I ventured into my career, I realized the importance of empowering those around me, which naturally led to my involvement in leadership roles and public speaking engagements. Today, I continue to embrace my voice, not only as a means of expression but as a tool for motivating and uplifting others in both my professional and personal journey.
I am an entrepreneur, engineer, and mentor dedicated to empowering others to succeed in tech. As a sought-after speaker, I share my insights and experiences to inspire the next generation of tech professionals. My commitment to mentorship and education stems from a deep desire to bridge gaps and create opportunities for individuals in underrepresented communities within the tech industry.
I stepped into leadership as a UX designer because my own journey revealed the challenges of ineffective leadership. Along the way, I encountered environments where guidance and support were lacking, which taught me invaluable lessons about what not to do as a leader. These experiences motivated me to upskill and refine my approach, ensuring I could provide the kind of mentorship and leadership I once wished I had.
Through mentoring and teaching others, I discovered a passion for empowering designers, fostering growth, and creating collaborative spaces where creativity and innovation thrive. My leadership journey is rooted in the belief that great leaders uplift their teams and inspire them to succeed.
Speaking Engagements
Whether it’s a conference, career day at school, or interview, Justice captivates audiences with engaging stories centered on career growth, design leadership, and the business value of design. As a seasoned professional with over a decade of experience, I have had the privilege of presenting at various conferences, workshops, & corporate events.
